Changes!

Non so ancora cosa stavo aspettando… Inizia così la canzone del grande David Bowie.

Così ho preso il coraggio a due mani, un bel respiro, una DVD con un’immagine ISO di Windows 10 per un’installazione pulita del sistema e… VIA!

Ho formattato il Notebook Asus e – dopo aver installato Win10 e Ubuntu in dual boot – ho caricato esclusivamente programmi open-source.

Tutto è cambiato e, per la fotografia, ecco un nuovo flusso di lavoro.

Scaricate le immagini dalla Fuji XT1, si passa al computer con un percorso che varia a seconda del formato:

RAW -> RawTherapee (Hald Clut)-> Gimp (Inkscape – Scribus) -> (Nik Software – solo Windows) -> JPG

Il file è quindi pronto per un fotolibro, la pubblicazione su Web, un catalogo in PDF o la stampa della foto.

Si può sopravvivere anche senza Photoshop!

Still don’t know what I was waiting for… So begins the great David Bowie’s song.

I took my courage in my hands, a breath, a Windows 10 ISO image for a clean installation of the system and … GO!

I formatted my Notebook Asus and – after installing Win10 and Ubuntu for dual boot – I only uploaded open-source programs.

Everything changed and for photography, there is a new workflow.

After pictures download from Fuji XT1, I pass to the computer with a path that varies depending on the format:

RAW -> RawTherapee (Hald Clut) -> Gimp (Inkscape – Scribus) -> (Nik Software – Windows only) -> JPG

The file is now ready for a photo book, Web publishing, a catalog in PDF or printing photos.

Yes, I can survive even without Photoshop!
